Southern Magic is proud to introduce Nancee Cain!
She will be at our luncheon in Hoover, Alabama November 5 with Jennifer Ashley, Hildie McQueen, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lynn Raye Harris, Dianna Love and 20 plus authors.
During the day Nancee Cain works as a nurse in the field of addiction to support her coffee and reading habit. Nights are spent writing paranormal and contemporary romances with a serrated edge. Authors have always been her rock stars, and she's been known to stalk a few for an autograph, but not in a scary, Stephen King way. Her husband swears her To-Be-Read list on her e-reader qualifies her as a certifiable book hoarder. Always looking to try something new, she dreams of being an extra in a Bollywood film or a tattoo artist. (Her lack of rhythm and artistic ability may put a damper on both of these dreams.)
Who are your top five authors to read?
Only five? But I have so many! Debra Anastasia, Sylvain Reynard, Aleatha Romig, Helena Hunting, Alice Clayton.
What is your go-to book to read over and over again?
I haven't re-read a book in years, my TBR pile is too big!
Who influenced your writing the most?
I read her books and they were so funny, yet touching. Her writing was over the top and different, her characters on the fringe of society. It touched a chord with me.
Describe where you are the most productive when you write.
In my bedroom at my desk. And I usually have a purring cat at my feet.
Tells us a little about your current book?
Tempting Jo is my second paranormal romance and will be released September 15, 2016. It's much lighter than Saving Evangeline, more along the line of Bridget Jones's Diary with a paranormal twist. Here's the blurb!
Forbidden love is hell...
Confident and quirky, Jo Sanford thinks her boss is God's gift to women--and she couldn't be further from the truth. Devilishly handsome, Luc DeVille will stop at nothing to lure his administrative assistant right into his arms--and bed.
Over Rafe Goodman's dead body...
Rafe, Jo's best friend, refuses to sit by and watch as Luc tries to win the heart of the woman he's always protected. After all, Rafe is her guardian angel. Suddenly, Jo's caught in the middle of a battle between good and evil. But the closer she gets to the fire, the hotter it burns. Now, Jo's going to learn that when love battles lust, Heaven and Hell collide.
Show us your one favorite scene of dialogue from that book.
Rafe emerges from the bathroom wearing a pair of plaid pajama pants that fit perfectly, revealing the defined V of his pelvis. The city lights filtering through the sheer curtain highlight every dip and plane of his abs. He pauses by my bed and sighs. To my surprise, he pulls the covers back and taps me on the arm to move over.
“W-What are you doing?” I whisper hoarsely.
“Move over, bed hog.”
“There are two beds,” I squeak, moving over to give him room. I want to curl into his neck and cry my heart out.
He lies down facing me and wipes my face dry. “Stop. He isn’t worth your tears; you know this deep down.”
“I don’t know if I can. It isn’t him. It’s me.” And sure enough, a fresh batch pours down my cheeks.
Rafe shifts in the bed, and I find myself on my back as he leans over me. “Please stop, Jo.”
The concern in his voice makes me cry harder.
“Or what?” I choke.
“Or I’ll kiss you.”
What do you believe makes a man sexy?
