GIVEAWAY: Welcome Back Andrea Laurence!

Let's welcome back the talented Andrea Laurence!

Hi everyone. I’m excited to be here today talking about a special project of mine. You all may know me as a Harlequin Desire author, writing powerful and provocative contemporary romance with my own snarky twist. My third Desire – UNDENIABLE DEMANDS – comes out in January and I’m very excited about my new Secrets of Eden series.
But for as long as I have been writing romance, I have been writing paranormal stories. When I started, paranormal wasn't a very popular genre yet. Vampires were starting to become popular, but it was nothing like the genre we know today. I started with my own vampire trilogy. Then I wrote some ghost hunters. A psychic. Possession. Demons. I played around with a lot of different paranormal themes. But as the genre got more popular, the trend leaned toward super dark, sexy paranormal stories. My voice as a writer tended to be a little lighter. Quirky characters, sarcastic humor and snappy banter would become what I was known for when I did publish, but it was too different when I tried to sell paranormal projects early on.
Fast forward mumblemumble years to today. I’m a published contemporary romance writer with an exciting career. I’m still shopping some paranormal ideas with my agent. But in addition to that, a big change in publishing has allowed authors to connect directly with readers. This has inspired me to give indie publishing a try and send one of my paranormal stories out into the world. My first project – SEXY AS HELL – is the first in the More Than Men series of paranormal novellas. More novellas will be out in 2013 by me and fellow authors Vicki Lewis Thompson, Rhonda Nelson and Kira Sinclair. All will feature sexy heroes with something otherworldly about them. I can’t wait to be able to share these other great stories with everyone. Here’s the blurb:
Strong, sexy and powerful... the kind of man every woman wants in her life and in her bed. But these men are more. Oh, so much more.
Seth gave up everything to circumvent death, including his freedom. Now he's an immortal warrior serving the Archangel Michael. But Seth has been compromised and he may finally earn his life back. He's just got to send one sexy, stubborn succubus back to hell.
Camille always thought her neighbor was mysterious and handsome, but she never imagined what kind of work really kept him up so late. The succubus Isra has targeted Seth and she has taken Camille as her host as a surefire way to get to him. Isra has twenty-four hours to seduce Seth and steal his immortal life-force by the most pleasurable means necessary.
The clock is ticking...
SEXY AS HELL is twenty-four hours of seduction, deception and... well... pizza.  : ) I’ve written 90,000 word books, 75,000 word books, 50,000 word books... but I have to say that writing a great story in under 20,000 is both a challenge and a joy. SEXY AS HELL is one of my first novellas. I’m very excited about this project and I hope you are too.
So tell me, do you read many novellas? Are they a short, sweet treat or do they leave you wanting more? For the authors out there, have you written many? Do you find them to be harder or easier to write than a full-length novel? One commenter will win a copy of SEXY AS HELL or their choice of paper books from my backlist.
Thanks for letting me visit today!

SEXY AS HELL is currently available exclusively on Amazon and will be available on other sites in mid-January. Check out the site and if you’re inclined, click the ‘like’ button. You can also follow me on Twitter, like me on Facebook or visit my website: www.andrealaurence.com to keep up to date on this project or any of my others.

I've only written one novella, and you are right! They are a challenge. :-)

Oh, it looks so good. I love the cover!

I love to read novellas. I have always liked them, probably has something to do with the ADHD. :-)

I can't imagine us ever writing one but it would be fun to try!

Sorry to be late. I had an all day audit at work. Bleh.

Heather - I think that's what a good novella does. It makes you want more.

Lexi - They are. But I like them. I'm always up for a challenge.

Stephanie - I'm all for something I can read without a major commitment of time. I don't have much.

It is something short and sweet that I can devour usually on a lunch break. Love them!

Bama - As a writer, I think I'd prefer a reader wish there was more story than not. You never want them to be able to walk away from characters they love.

Anonymous - I don't get a lot of time to read, so short projects are great. I might be able to finish it before I get distracted. I've been reading the Fudge Cupcake Murders since September. I haven't had time to finish it!
