Deadlines

I'm swamped with other volunteer work with the chapter and have given no thought to my blog today. What does it say that I'm posting this at 8:00 pm? Hello?

So here's just a quick question. What's the latest deadline you've given yourself and what's getting in the way?

Mine? I need to finish my current book by the end of October. What's getting in the way? The luncheon. The contest. Animal rescues (which are endless). Work. It's just one of those days when I feel overwhelmed.

Tomorrow will be another day and I'm sure everything will seem better. I hope. Meanwhile, tell me what you're doing.

What's getting in the way? Oldest child graduating from high school in May and going off to college, work, family, youngest child who is a full time job, work, procrastination, paralysis, head games . . .

ME!

Head games... got that one down pat... and Callie, you'll get it done. I like to reevaluate the goals every so often.

Right now I have the GH as a goal for two MSs, I haven't even filled out the applications! I was too busy writing, dealing with my sick kid, traveling to GA, and now regrouping. I doubt I'll get much done till fall break ends... and oh yea... my volunteering... which I am so not good at ....

But you will get it done!! Sometimes I just have to give myself permission not to do it.

Sometimes.

Paralysis, Jeanie? I hope you mean writer's block. Oh, and the year of graduation is HUGE. Took a lot of my time too.

Well, it's nice we're all in this craziness together!

I'm right there with you, Christine. I registered both my books for the GH. Now I need to finish the second one in time to send it (I did this last year and didn't quite make it). This year at least one will go, and I'm determined the other will as well.

Hope the conference was a success!

No, Callie, I won't call it writer's block, because I know what needs to happen. I'm having trouble making it to the end. Everything in slooooow motion. Maybe writer's petrification or calcification would be a better term!

Hi, Callie!
I'm giving myself to the 2nd week in November to finish my current manuscript. I figure if I keep saying it to people I'll be too embarrassed not to keep it!

Just remember, that the first 50 pages must be golden, but the rest can be CRAP... seriously. My MAGGIE finalist is ready to go... a few tweaks. The other one... I'm doing it to get the partial ready for the agent LOL... all else is crap... or will be till MARCH...

Good luck!! I can't wait to hear how you did...

Callie,
I am struggling with...revisions. I was hoping to start my second book and have it half way done. (Cue the hysterial laughter)

Its a variety of things that get in the way, like Christine, It is head games (the "I suck as a writer" junk), family --just had a vacation, and work--new job, training etc.

Still, it is up to me. I have to finish this. Btw, I will owe you a coffee and dinner, and book...I am thinking...

Keep going Callie! :)
