It's called ambition. I ask myself do I want to be published? The answer is always yes. Then I get my butt in a chair and write. It might be junk, but it's something - though I have to admit to a lot of time staring at blank paper. At least when the imspiration hits, I have plenty of room to write. LOL!
Sometimes writing can be the salvation of our sanity when things are falling apart. Good luck, Karen. Hang in there.
Because when everything around you is going to hell in a handbasket and is totally out of your control, writing isn't. The characters, what happens in their lives, their happy-ever-after is all up to you and is in your hands. And, like JoAnn said, it can keep you sane. You lose yourself in the whole creation process, removing you from the chaos of life. Gotcha in my prayers, and just keep moving forward.
You got some great advice here. I especially like Naima's of being able to control your character's lives and their happy ever after. It gives you a control you might not feel otherwise. Also, I have a journal I started several years ago. When I'm feeling particulary frustrated or angry, I go to my journal and let it all out. Very freeing. One more thing. Using what's going on in your life can sometimes bring out intense emotions in your characters. Digging deep inside yourself and projecting that onto your characters can give them added depth and give you a much need catharsis.Hope things get better soon!
You find a moment and write something...even if its on a scrap of paper.Truly, I understand about things going to hell in a hand basket. Hang in there...and take a deep breath....(Chocolate or tea helps too... :) )
